Paintings

No studio is complete without my dogs.
It's hard to believe but it's been 15 years of this blog. It began as a way of talking about my art and work. Like time, it has changed as my life has but even in the darkest most frightening places art and beauty remains a way of being for me. My last exhibit was in 2020, 4 months before Jim died. If you'd like to see the book "Pixel" that accompanied my show, please go here—Blurb books. Most of the small paintings, surprising me, sold out.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the work here, please email me at: anndemarle@gmail.com

The portfolio of the oil paintings below, I've completed since spring 2010. To get the best view of each painting in greater detail, click on an image of a painting. Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube are where I regularly post my paintings, photography, videos, and my processes. Often my art and reading are tightly intertwined. This blog contains my story and the story of others who influence me.

From John O’Donohue’s “Anam Cara”, “The Holy Spirit is the wild and passionate side of God, the tactile spirit whose touch is around you, bringing you close to yourself and to others. The Holy Spirit makes these distances attractive and laces them with fragrances of affinity and belonging. Graced distances make strangers friends. Somehow at a particular time, they came from the distance toward your life. Their arrival seemed so accidental and contingent. Now your life is unimaginable without them. Similarly, your identity and vision are composed of a certain constellation of ideas and feelings that surfaced from the depths of distance within you. To lose these now would be to lose yourself. You live and move on divine ground.”
